The Abergavenny Food Festival, a mecca for all foodies, is fast approaching. Hosted by the medieval market town of Abergavenny, the annual event showcases the finest in British food and drink and is hosted by the medieval market town of Abergavenny in South Wales.
From market stalls offering up seasonal produce to make the highstreet supermarket cower in shame, to the absolute royalty of the celebrity chef kingdom – Aber looks set to be as deliciously glam as ever.
Amongst the highlights programmed this year is a talk by The Observer critic and The One Show food expert Jay Rayner. The gastro heartthrob promises to provoke and delight audiences as he “analyses the psychological impact” that bad restaurants and their reviews have on customers and readers alike.
Other events include cooking demonstrations, food debates and wine and cheese tasting excuses. The active and adventurous can gorge their culinary intellect, whilst those that prefer ‘a gentler weekend pace’ can meander through the six different venues (all within easy waddling distance) and sample, chat, pick and shop to their tummy’s delight.
A 6-Venue Stroller ticket gives entry to six venues: The Castle, Brewery Yard, The Cheese & Wine Show, the Fish Market at St Mary’s Priory Centre, The Market Hall, and Tiverton Place. These venues, (together with the stalls in Cross Street and Nevill Street) have over 180 exhibitors, as well as workshops, demonstrations and other entertainment.
