Beat-Herder adds smatterings of big beats to the bill.

Beat-Herder gets festival goers to take a little notice as it blooms into being with Erol Alkan, Luke Vibert, Ali B and Son of Dave added to the bill. The first weekend of July sees enthusiasts escaping the city to Ribble Valley Lancashire for bass lines and a little northern magic.

Beat-Herder welcomes techno man Erol Alkan, and I tell you, seeing the effect this man has on a crowd is just too much. His electro, disco and growling beats are sure to shake the stage, onlookers and all vegetation in the immediate area. Joining Alkan are the likes of art pop chaps Django Django as well as Dan Le Sac and partner in crime, Scroobius Pip. Does It Offend You Yeah? jump on the electro train and there are compartments for electro pop crew Chew Lips, Easy Star All Stars, Alex Metric and rave gurus Utah Saints. Full steam ahead.

Cornish Pasties aren't the only good thing to come out of south west England: Luke Vibert makes his way to Beat-Herder to smash every electronic genre there is. Expect an eclectic set that funks up electronica to the most decadent degree. Let us not forget Son of Dave. His screwball folk, blues and harmonica craziness will set festival goers stomping and indulging in a little country madness.

Fabric resident, Ali B adds a mixture of funk and soul, hip hop, breaks and electro to the festival boiling pot. And dear citizens, not only is this concoction filled with tasty music, throw in zero sponsorship, vibrating benches, cheap local food and booze, art installations, gob smacking views and you've got yourself a party in sleepy Lancashire.
