Updates and news for the Chelsea Flower Show 2011.

Chelsea Flower Show

Where: Royal Hospital, Chelsea
When: 24 - 28 May 2011
How much: £15- £47

Held each year in giant specially erected marquees at the Royal Hospital, The Great Spring Show aka The Chelsea Flower Show is the calendar event for horticulturalists, landscape designers, and keen gardeners alike. The Chelsea Flower Show attracts visitors from around the world, as well as the Queen, various other Royals and everybody who is anybody in society. Plus over 150,000 ticket-buying guests.

At once very smart and extremely accessible and friendly, the Chelsea Flower Show really is about gardens and gardening, and anybody who loves growing things will find themselves welcomed and entranced by a selection of beautiful show gardens, practical stalls and themed pagodas. Refreshments are plentiful, the atmosphere is elated as gardeners relish the onset of summer and plan the year ahead, and the setting’s natural beauty is enhanced by thousands of rare and beautiful blooms.

Tickets can be steep for non-members of the Royal Horticultural Society but the show offers hours of fun, from chattering over cups of tea with other gardeners, to jealous glances at the show gardens, to picking up some practical tips for your thousand acres, or windowbox.

The Chelsea Flower Show is a quintessentially English and undeniably enjoyable fixture that colourfully and creatively marks the start of the summer.

2011 looks particularly exciting, with the participation of award-winning designer Stephen Hall. He's creating a special garden for drinks company Fever-Tree, that features loads of unusual medicinal plants and herbs, as well as, most excitingly for us, a tree house!
