Eclecticism continues with Ether Festival's sensational 2010 line-up

London’s South Bank Centre has unveiled a stellar cast as the first names to play its annual Ether Festival, this April. The ten-day festival returns from Friday 16th to Sunday 25th February and will feature a line-up filled with musical pioneers spanning eras and genres.

From such irrefutable legends as Lou Reed and Gil Scott-Heron to The Herbaliser and Stereo MCs, the Ether Festival’s dedication to provide musical and artistic innovation carries us up to date with the inclusion of 2009 Mercury Prize-winning Speech Debelle.

Legendry film-maker and video artist, Chris Cunningham, will perform a special live show combining his own and remixed music with brand new music videos. Supporting him will be Portishead member Geoff Barrow’s new project, BEAK>.

Also celebrated at Ether 2010 are the works of Edgard Varèse. Often regarded as a forefather of electronic music, Varèse (1883-1965) only completed 3 hours of music in his lifetime. His complete works will be staged in three concerts, presented by Southbank Centre, the London Sinfonietta and the National Youth Orchestra.

In previous years, Ether has presented groundbreaking works and unique collaborations from the likes of Kraftwerk, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke, and David Byrne. Tickets are available now, so don’t miss the chance to celebrate music at its most innovative and resplendent.
