Line-ups, updates and news for HowTheLightGetsIn 2012.

A festival with a difference, HowTheLightGetsIn is less about wading through acres of knee-deep mud in order to queue at some portaloos, and more about art, music and thought. Taking place in Hay-on-Wye, the small Welsh town probably most famous for the annual Hay Literary Festival, every year HowTheLightGetsIn features a broad range of exciting thinkers and eclectic bands.
The festival is held at The Globe at Hay, home to non-profit art and cultural organisation the Institute of Art and Ideas. The main attraction is the range and calibre of the thinkers involved: for 2012 speakers include Philip Pullman, Vince Cable, Polly Toynbee, and Luce Irigaray.
The key though is the way each event is curated. By and large this isn't just some big names trotting out the usual "Hey, I've just got a new book out" nonsense; here, real, important, interesting issues are explored through carefully put-together and well-chaired panel discussions.
The extra-special news is that for 2012, Spoonfed have teamed up with HowTheLightGetsIn to curate our own event - a fascinating discussion about the Limits of Science, featuring historian of science James Le Fanu, Think editor Stephen Law, and everybody's favourite maverick scientist and all-round hero Rupert Sheldrake.
As well as all this, there's also a pretty extensive music line-up, making how the whole festival not only fascinating but also bloody fun.
HowTheLightGetsIn is basically the best thing ever.
