Kendal Calling Announces Freakeasy Thursday

15 April, 2010
by: Spoonfed Festivals

Kendal Calling 2010 is adding an extra day of performance art and theatre onto its already brimming banquet of weekend festivities

Croissant Neuf

Said to resemble the Bohemian back end of the paranormal’s beyond, Freakeasy Thursday will be gilded with cabaret and circus acts, freaky side-shows, sword swallowers, troubadours, and the world’s tallest DJ. Want weird hypnotic art installations? How about a giant gramophone with a projection screen built into its horn and a Victorian parlour underneath? Very strange.

And as if this wasn’t enough of a feast for the senses, the solar-powered stage Croissant Neuf is where live bands and DJs will help you kick off Kendal Calling in bizarre style.

With tickets a mere £20 extra on top of the weekend ticket, this is a great way to pitch your tent in a prime spot and start the festival on a weird but wonderful note. Otherwise, it's also simply a fantastical way to spend a particularly freaky Thursday evening.
