Line- ups, updates and new for the London Jazz Festival 2011.

Jazz

Venues across London, 11th – 20th November, 2011

Every autumn since before we can remember (sometime aroud 1975) the best jazz musicians in the world and their acolytes have gathered in London for a couple of weeks of London jazz, blues, be bop, soul and every imaginable form of jam session. There are gala concert events, tributes to late, great artists, club nights and impromptu alfresco sessions. Everything goes totally jazzy for a fortnight and fans travel from far and wide to watch the masters at work. It's a perfect autumnal festival – kind of blue, but totally exciting.

The London Jazz Festival is held at various venues around town including The Roundhouse, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, and the Purcell Room. If the weather is good enough the action often spills onto pavements in Soho, the Southbank and West London. Concurrent with the formal festival, you can expect a mass of great gigs and jam sessions all over London as the greats of the jazz world visit old haunts like 606, the Dysart Arms, the Cabbage Patch, the Bulls Head Barnes, the Rising Sun, the Vortex Dalston, Le Quecumbar and of course, Ronnie Scott's.
