London's smallest festival announced

It doesn't get smaller than this!

Sunday Girl

At a time when bigger is used pretty much as a synonym for better, it's rather refreshing when something comes along that champions not its size, but rather its lack thereof. Step forward then the St Martin's Courtyard Garden Party, to be held on Saturday 2nd July and billing itself as “London's smallest festival”.

Taking place over the course of just five hours, on a site no bigger than two acres, and with just the one act, the St Martin's Courtyard Garden Party is not only London's smallest festival, but probably the UK's most civilised too: there's free cake, strawberries and glasses of Pimm's, as well as fashion shows, magicians, facepainting, and – most importantly – bunting. 260 metres of bunting to be precise.

And the 'headliner'? Well it's none other than Sunday Girl, aka Jade Williams from Hertfordshire. The moniker comes from her time working in a pet shop aged 14 – she was apparently referred to as the “Sunday Girl” as no one could remember her name. Everyone's expecting big things from her breathy electro pop, or rather – for St Martin's Courtyard Garden Party at least – not big things, but two small, perfectly presented acoustic sets. Splendid.
