Line-ups, news and updates on Manchester International Festival 2011.

When: 30 June - 17 July 2011
Where: Manchester
How much: events individually priced

Launched in 2007, the Manchester International Festival is an artist-led festival of original new work and one-off events. Taking place across the city and incorporating performances, music, visual arts and other cultural activities, MIF is one of the world's most exciting and diverse festivals.

2009 saw the festival host a throng of world premieres and exciting new shows including Prima Donna, Rufus Wainwright’s debut opera; a double-bill performance by pioneers of contemporary music Kraftwerk and Steve Reich; and immersive theatre ‘It Felt Like a Kiss’ created by Adam Curtis and Punchdrunk, with music by Damon Albarn.

The line-up for 2011 already looks like a cracker, with big names like Damon Albarn, Bjork and Snoop Dogg all confirmed. Our personal highlights include Amadou & Mariam, a new children's show from Punchdrunk, a multi-storey verticle farm and something called Sacred Sites - a series of spiritual performances taking place across the city. Awesome.
