Melt festival is an out-and-out German music festival. Held in the grounds of an open-air industrial museum celebrating the might of 20th century German engineering, this is a fitting location for six dance floors on which to stomp to 80 face-melting DJ sets and live acts.
2010 will be Melt’s 13th year and it's a name that has risen rapidly in the European summer festival stakes as a must-do. Aside from getting you dancing to an exceptional bill of artists in the shadow of 30ft industrial relics, Melt also displays archetypal German efficiency both in its organisation and execution: shuttle festival trains and buses will be provided from all corners of Europe, a special iPhone app for the festival can be downloaded, showers are €1.50, there’s a guide on the website on how to pack your bag so as to minimize climate change, and there’ll be a mind-blowing line-up that will no doubt run like clockwork.
Superstar acts from the worlds of electronic music, indie and pop will be gracing Melt’s Bauhaus stages including The XX, Massive Attack, Friendly Fires, Booka Shade and Delphic to mention but a few.
