Parachutists Allowed Free Entry to Glade Festival 2010

So you fancy going to Glade for free? Read on...

Glade Festival has just announced that it'll be allowing some festival-goers in for free this year. However, before you get too excited, it has also confirmed that there is a minor catch: you must parachute in to the event, dressed as Elvis, wearing a sound system strapped to your back. So not too much to ask then? We must also point out that it's mandatory that you hit the ground dancing. Heaven forbid if you forgot that last detail after going to all that effort.

“So where on earth did this idea come from?”, we hear you ask. Well, it originated from the Glade Director Nick Ladd, who recently posted it on the festival's website and Twitter. Apparently Nick had agreed to a friend's request to enter the festival for free if he took part in a charity parachute jump, landing in the main arena. As Ladd had accepted this request he thought it only fair to open this opportunity to the public, adding a few necessary stipulations of course.

This announcement is being taken seriously by many dedicated Glade fans, and according to Ladd there will be a designated landing area for parachutists. The details of where this will be on the site have yet to be confirmed but he has made a point of mentioning that the 50ft high flame that comes out the top of the Arcadia Stage is definitely worth avoiding!

Glade takes place on 15th-18th July at the Matterly Bowl in Winchester and is entering its seventh year for 2010. It's set to be a particularly good line-up this time round featuring the likes of Orbital, Tricky, Simian Mobile Disco, Jeff Mills and Green Velvet. So, if you don't feel like paying the standard £135 then dust off the blue suede shoes and get planning. We're sure this year will be a Glade to remember.
