Port Eliot Festival is a cultural buffet in Cornwall. Laid on for your delectation is a selection of literature and talks, poetry, comedy, music, art and above all, colourful, inspirational fun. Now in its ninth year, the event was formerly called Port Eliot Lit Fest - but changed its name because really, it is a very different approach to a straight-up literary festival.

The team behind it believed there was room for a new kind of literary event - one with engaging literary content but the vibe of a music festival. The writers, poets and journalists attending were asked to perform material they would not be given the opportunity to present at a standard literary festival. Something beyond reading from a book and taking questions from the floor. The brief was merely to 'do something different with words'. The result was spontaneous, original and exciting - and the Port Eliot festival sprirt was born.

The festival occurs in the grounds of a beautiful stately home - former site of the now legendary Elephant Fayre. The line-up spans authors, novelists, fashionistas, musicians, poets, artists and gardeners. There will also be amazing food courtesy of a selection of chefs (and talks by food writers), Martin Scorcese's Outdoor Cinema, kids entertainment, cabaret, colour and more.
