Line-ups, news and updates for Sci-Fi London 2011

Various Venues, April 23rd - 2nd May 2011

The London International Festival Of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film is the UK's leading sci-fi event and has been making sci-fi and fantasy fanatics happy for eight years now. It is held at several London venues including The Appollo West End Cinema.

Every year the festival shows at least a dozen premieres (in the last few years the major screenings were of apocalyptic zombie flick '28 Weeks Later', and Bruce Dickinson's 'Chemical Wedding') alongside their regular film programming; which includes shorts, documentaries and international films. There are also talks and debates on genre literature, film and TV.

As well as the regular plethora of Sci-Fi premiers and competitions, the event will also be hosting a Royal Wedding All-Nighter which includes the showing of five wedding related horror and sci-fi classics. Starting at 11pm with a bucks fizz reception, films such as 'I Married A Witch' and 'Bride Of The Gorilla' will be shown until the following day. It's cheaper than a hotel.

Festival Director Louis Savy says: 'the festival started because there wasn't anywhere for low-budget, interesting or foreign scince fiction films. It's purpose is to show films that you're not likely to see in the UK at all.'
