The Secret Garden Party smiles upon all who descend on her resplendent grounds. The tag 'Boutique' does little to describe what occurs there. Yes, there's a lot provided, but in general, the party people make their own fun.
Winner of the Best Small Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2010, best Medium Festival in 2011, the Garden Party is an utter delight. They pride themselves on being not all about the music - but they still programe massive names beside more off-centre ones; last year it was Blondie, Leftfield and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas who were the big guns. But the real attraction is the 40 or so Action Camps organised by people who attend the festival: everything from Conspiracy Camp featuring talks from CIA top-dogs to Nest Camp where you make your own nest which you can then sleep in.
A galleon with an onboard bar and soundsystem floats on the lake which bisects the beautiful grounds. On Sunday night last year, an archer fired a burning arrow into it, setting off a massive load of fireworks. Absolutely epic.
