Colombian songstress and humanitarian Shakira, has been booked for Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage on Saturday 26th June.

As well as joining the star-studded line-up for Glastonbury Festival 2010 and it's 40th Anniversary, which includes acts such as U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder, Shakira has a busy summer ahead as the official anthem singer at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and then heading over to Somerset to fall in with the other headliners.

Shakira rose to fame in the UK on the back of 2000's album Laundry Service, or Servicio de Lavanderia, particularly thanks to number one hit 'Whenever, Wherever' (in Spanish, 'Suerte'). She won over the mainstream English-language market while still pleasing her original fans - no small feat - and from there has gone from strength to strength.

The South American artist released her sixth album, 'She Wolf', in October 2009 to many positive reviews. Yet she's also known for her philantropy: in 1995 the musician set up her own NGO charity named after her first album, The Barefoot Foundation, which raises money for projects to help Colombia's impoverished and underprivileged children.
