Line-ups, news and updates for Sunrise Celebration 2012

When: 21st – 24th June 2012

Where: Bruton, Somerset
How much: £115

Sunrise Celebration’s ‘organically-grown good vibes’ return this year to the rolling green hills of deepest, greenest Somerset. Begun in 2006 as an alternative solstice celebration during one of Glastonbury’s fallow years, it has blossomed into what Michael Eavis describes as the event that comes closest to capturing the atmosphere at his festival during its formative years. With its capacity increasing year on year since 2009, this summer’s celebration of ethically responsible revelry promises to be its most extravagantly enchanting yet. Bend reality in the Field of Infinite Possibility, float free in the dedicated Serenity Space, clamour headily in the Carnival Field, and leave your children in Kid Area, the best of its kind.

Sunrise prides itself on the extraordinary eclecticism of its sound policy, which includes an array of electronic dance musics taking in psy-trance, breaks and dubstep, alongside a generous helping of live and acoustic music – folk, reggae, ska, dub, Celtic and Balkan beats and much more.

Line-up highlights include Italian electronic worldbeat innovator Gaudi, Glasgow’s legendary dub soundsystem gurus Mungo’s Hifi, nice-up Bristol reggae band Laid Blak, full-on psychedelic trance groover Liquid Ross as well as purveyors of Gypsy Balkan Folk Mayhem Sheelanagig.
