Their slot on the Pyramid Stage and not the whole festival, thank god...

Fans of over-hyped Irish rock look away now, U2 have been forced to cancel next month’s headline appearance on Glastonbury’s pyramid stage due to a serious back injury sustained by their lead-singer Bono.
The band who were due to close the first day of proceedings are said to be ‘heartbroken’ with the injured Bono adding that, "we really wanted to be there to do something really special - we even wrote a song especially for the Festival". We’re guessing that’s not just an up-dated version of 'Beautiful Day' as well.
Obviously this leaves a glaring hole in the Pyramid Stage’s line-up, but as usual Mike Eavis is keeping schutum. "Clearly, they were looking forward to playing the Pyramid Stage as much as we were looking forward to watching them’ he says in a statement on the festival’s website, "at this point, we have no comment to make about possible replacements for U2's Friday night slot. Instead, we would simply like to send Bono our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery". Oh well, anyone for Coldplay?
