Since barelling onto the scene in a fit of mass under-the-radar hype in 2006, the Underage Festival has really made the clunking glut of London's big-time Summer festivals not just sit up, but shift up and make some damned room.
Famously the brainchild of 14-year-old Sam Kilcoyne (who made the logical next-step after the success of his Underage club nights), the festival gives 14-18 year-olds an affordable day of admittedly indie-heavy talent, in the past bringing acts such as Gallows, Foals and The Rascals together with distinctive UK bigs such as Dizzee Rascal.
Of course some might cast a suspicious eye over the whole thing; there's the big-name 'young and trendy' sponsorship (NME, My Space...) for a start, and the brazen 'adult ban' gimmick (yeah, we get it, what a USP), but you've got to hand it to Sam anyway: nine hours of adult-free fun and flouncing live music for a little over £30? Considering you pay that much for a shower at Leeds festival, by gums, it ain't bad.
