What To See At Lovebox 2012

What To See At Lovebox 2012

11 June, 2012
by: Spoonfed Festivals

It's the tenth birthday of Lovebox Festival, and it looks better than ever.

Blondes
Friday
Ignore their Scandinavian sounding names; Sam Haar and Zach Steinman are as American as apple pie and Chevy Impalas.  Going by the name Blondes when they hang out together, they specialise in slow-building, euphoric dance that sits in a nexus between the blissed-out fuzz of Washed Out and the soaring crescendos of Justice. Disclosure
Friday
The hottest duo in dance music make slick, garage-inflected house music. You will probably have heard their huge remix of Jessie Ware's 'Running'. They have carved a distinct Disclosure sound: unmistakable, skippy 2-step which recalls '90s garage but re-imagined with an upfront future slant. They are playing the Fact Stage and all signs point towards it being absolutely mega. Running - Jessie Ware (Disclosure Remix) by Disclosure

Crazy P
Saturday
The chameleonic Crazy P began life as a production partnership in Nottingham. They may well be one of the most perfect festival acts you could wish to experience – blending pure live energy with high octane dancefloor power and lush sunshine vibes.  They are both classic and totally fresh; equally at home smashing out club bangers as their spaced out disco. The Rapture
Sunday
The Rapture are one of the few bands who can claim to have changed music as we know it. Sounding like Blondie, Liquid Liquid and The New York Dolls all at the same time, their 2003 hit ‘House of Jealous Lovers’ landed on the indie scene like an neutron bomb, zapping slow, plodding brit-rock stone dead with one hand, and causing a whole legion of dance-infused funk-punks to break through with the other. Chaka Kahn
Sunday
The Queen of Funk has very recently been added to the bill – and is reason enough to warrant a trip to Victoria Park on Sunday. One of the original R&B stars, she has won 10 Grammys and been making music since the '70s. To hear her belt out 'I'm Every Woman' and 'Ain't Nobody' across the crowds on Sunday will be a truly diamond festival moment.

Lovebox Festival takes over Victoria Park from Friday 15th - Sunday 17th June.
