The best places to go for Valentine's Day deliciousness...

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day in London is all about eating, or rather, drinking. Whether you've been married fifty years or you're taking your date out for the first time, booze is an essential accompaniment to alleviate boredom and nerves, respectively. And what better accompaniment to booze is there than food?

We've selected our favourite Valentine's Day restaurant menus in London as well as a couple of other food/drink-based fun things:

Amico Bio, Smithfields
£30
A vegetarian Italian restaurant? Yes it's true. Small, cute, organic and delicious, Amico Bio is a perfect choice for some Valentine's Day dinner. Four courses – including the delighful-sounding ravioli filled with broccoli, potato and mint – for £30 is also something of a bargain we reckon.

London Dungeon, London Bridge
£17.50 - £23.10
Crazy cake-making lady Emma Cakehead combines the gruesomeness of London Dungeons with the traditional imagery of love this Valentine's Day. The result? Cupcakes featuring heart ventricles. Grim, yes, but certainly different.

Mango Tree, Belgravia
£45 - £59
A special aphrodisiac menu at this Thai restaurant in Belgravia. Start with pomegranate, avocado, sweetcorn and kidney beans wrapped in delicious Betal nut leaves, move on to grilled lobster tail with chu chi cream sauce, and finish things off pached pear and clotted cream. Ladies receive a special gift too...

Vinopolis, Borough
£40
This Valentine's Day, Vinopolis are putting on a special Wine Tour. Visitors are greeted with a champagne reception before a series of tastings – four wines followed by a Bombay Sapphire cocktail. The price includes a choice of meat or vegetarian tapas platters.

Sitaaray, Covent Garden
£25 - £35
A Bollywood-inspired 'Great Lovers Grill' at Sitaaray, with plenty of vegetarian options available. We like the sound of buttery black lentils simmered for fourteen hours, and then finished with tomatoes, ginger and cream

Imli, Soho

£28.50
Kick off with a Rose Petal Martini at this Indian street food specialist, before moving on to a selection of unusal dishes like grileld prawns in ginger, yoghurt and lemon juice. Homemade chocolate fudge pudding with fig and ginger ice cream and raspberry coulis completes the meal.
