The band have also announced that they'll be releasing two more songs via Twitter.

Seeing that they’re supposed to be headlining the Olympics closing party later this year, it's high time that we had a bit of news from Blur. So it was with a fair bit of relief we opened our inbox this moring and saw that a) the band is planning to preview new songs on twitter next Monday and b) they're going to be performing said new material at a secret London rooftop gig next week – Beatles style.

It wouldn’t be the first time Blur has done something like this. In fact ever since they reformed to play Glastonbury back in 2009, they’ve become something of guerrilla gig specialists, popping up play Goldsmiths union, Rough Trade East and the East Anglia Railway Museum in the run up to their reunion gigs in Hyde Park.

To get it from the horse’s mouth – take a look at Alex James pastoral announcement on YouTube. Don’t worry he doesn’t mention cheese.

To keep abrest of all the developments, follow Blur on Twitter.
