David Bowie celebrates his 66th year with a new single and his first album in nearly ten years.

David Bowie turned 66 today and as a gift to us all the Thin White Duke has released a new single. ‘Where Are We Now?’ is a brand new cut off his upcoming release The Next Day, Bowie’s first album of new material in over a decade.  Set to be released this March, the album will be the legendary glam rocker’s 30th studio recording.

Though one might expect news of a new single and a forthcoming milestone album to be rounded off with a tour announcement, don’t hold your breath waiting for Bowie to release details of any live dates. Showy as he may have been in his youth, Bowie has not performed live since 2006 and famously turned down the opportunity to appear at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.

But fret not Bowie fans, whilst chances of catching Ziggy Stardust live in the flesh are pretty slim, this March The V&A Museum will be offering the next best thing with ‘David Bowie is’, the first international retrospective of Bowie’s extraordinary career. Running through to the end July, the exhibition will feature will feature more than 300 objects that include handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs and Bowie's own instruments.

As well as allowing visitors to explore a broad range of Bowie’s collaborations with artists and designers in the fields of fashion, music, theatre and film there will also be a series of talks and workshops based around the life and career of one of the UK’s greatest musical exports.

David Bowie is opens at the V&A on the 23rd of March and tickets are availible now through the V&A bookings page.'Where Are We Now?' is availible to download now through iTunes, watch the video below.
