There's exclusives, then there's Exclusives...

Yes, indeed. Spoonfed can exclusively reveal that Sir Elton John will be performing an updated version of his classic 1973 hit ‘Candle in the Wind’ especially for the Royal Wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William this April.

A source close to Clarence House has been quick to confirm the rumours: “Sir Elton has been a fantastic servant to the Royal household, both William and Kate are big fans, and we're all delighted that Elton has decided to dedicate a song to their momentous day.”

It's our understanding that this version of the song, associated forever with the late Diana, Princess of Wales, will have the lyrics changed to reflect the couple’s love for each other. Elton will be performing the reworked version on the lawn outside Westminster Abbey just after the Royal Wedding ceremony, and a special collectors' single will be in the shops the following Tuesday.

It's quite some piece of news, but then we’re nothing if not connected here at Spoonfed. We’ve hung out with dukes, earls and the odd baron in our time, we all know how to play polo, and when to use a fish knife. Hell, even our live music editor is a direct descendent of John Beaufort, 1st Earl of Somerset. Nonetheless, this is a major coup for us.

All in all it’s looking like a very special day. Although, for anyone at Clarence House who’s reading this, our invitation is still missing in the post. Alan Sugar has said he’d give us all a lift to the reception and everything.
