It's the news we've all been waiting for: unlikely celebrity pals Lady Gaga and Johnny Depp have enlisted a load of their famous friends to raise money for a host of good causes with a one-off gig at the London Eye this Easter weekend.
The group is fronted by Lady Gaga and features Tim Westwood providing backing beats, Noel Fielding on the lute and Johnny Depp on guitar. In addition, anonymous Bristol-based street artist Banksy will be providing visuals at this multi-media extravaganza of a gig.
The gig is scheduled to take place at 7pm on Sunday 4th April in an as yet undisclosed pod of the London Eye, which is celebrating its tenth birthday this year. Due to space restrictions, there are only 22 tickets available, priced at £245 each. The money raised by the group – named, apparently, Gurkhas in Burkhas – is all going to Gurkhas who have married Burkha-wearing spouses.
In addition, lucky recipients of these super-exclusive tickets will be treated to an after-party at Noel Fielding's home in Camden Town, with gourmet cuisine provided by none other than Lloyd Grossman.
For those of you wondering how this disparate bunch of celebrities came together, there is method to the madness. Gaga and Depp met in early 2009 whilst shopping in LA. The two bonded over a mutual love of Lloyd Grossman's sauces, hence the involvement of the odd-voiced chef. Depp and Fielding were introduced by mutual friend Jonathan Ross, and it was apparently Fielding who enlisted the help of Tim Westwood. Nobody seems quite sure how Banksy got involved.
A clearly thrilled Gaga tweeted this morning: “flying to London for super-tiny Sunday gig. See y'all there little monsters!”
