Fun, fun, fun in the summer sun

Sleepy Shoreditch Park, the beautiful vista that is blocked by a wall outside of our window, is usually home to dog walkers, estate kids and slightly creepy old men, but for one day a year it is transformed into the beating heart of the Hoxton music scene, thanks to 1234shoreditch, and with These New Puritans already confirmed, 2010 is looking like it’ll be the best yet.
Pencilled in for Saturday 16th July, the festival is already taking on the shape of a mini-Primavera with indie-dance kids We Have Band and dark, brooding post-punks S.C.U.M. joining South End cool kids These New Puritans, Veronica Falls, Trailer Trash Tracys and Not Cool amongst the first wave of bands to be announced.
Despite a strong showing from the Brits, we have to admit though we’re probably most excited to hear that New York shoegazers Vivian Girls and West Coast psyche punk dudes Wavves are also confirmed to be playing. We have no worries about Vivian Girls: we checked them out recently and can confirm they were awesome, but Wavves are notoriously flakey, so here’s hoping they don’t wig out like they did last year in Spain.
