Hi! Welcome to our first ever Tour Story, the place where we distil all of those gig announcements we get sent throughout the week into one easily digestible article. We were going to call it 'Get in the Van', but we decided the whole Black Flag thing has been overdone a bit these past few years. Anyway, the idea is that rather than bombarding you with news articles all week on Twitter and Facebook constantly, we’re just going to tell you about these things in one big go from here on in.
Sorted? Right, let’s do this. Apart from the Blink-182 and Death and Vegas shows that we told you about earlier on in the week, the other thing that got us pretty pumped up was the news that Brighton noise duo Blood Red Shoes are making a triumphant return to London’s stages. With a new LP called ‘In Time To Voices’ due for release on the 26th March, they’re due to visit The Garage on 3rd May. To get you in the mood, here’s a blast of their new single ‘Cold’.
If you’ve got an impressionable girlfriend/daughter, you’ll probably be wanting to keep a close eye on them at the end of March, because Odd Future are returning to our shores to play the Brixton Academy on the 29th. Even better, they’ll be releasing a brand new mix tape called ‘OF Vol 2’ the very same month.
Moving on from potty-mouthed rappers and into more serious territory, '80s post-punk and experimental pioneers The Killing Joke are also going to be hitting London in March. Supported by LA five-piece The Icarus Line, the band are due to play the Roundhouse on 8th March. Although they promise a greatest hits set, the main reason they’re here is to push their latest, and as yet untitled album, which Youth claims will be “bone crunchingly heavy”.
In amongst all these heavyweights, this week also saw announcements from up-and-coming pop punks Futures, who will play XOYO on 24th April, and everyone’s favourite experimental French mothers Underground Railroad, who will be tearing up the Queen of Hoxton on 23rd February. Here’s the track 'Russian Doll' off their latest album ‘White Night Stand’ to get you in the mood.
That’s all we’ve got room for this time, but remember to check out our live music page for gigs in your area!
