April: London Live Music

by: Spoonfed Team

In lieu of being able to think of any good April Fool's jokes, instead enjoy some top quality music choices for the rain-friendly month...

5th April
Dum Dum Girls
@ Dingwalls

A whirlwind of snarling post-punk basslines, choppy guitars and vocal melodies reminiscent of big-haired '60s girl’s groups, Dum Dum Girls sound like a meeting between Mika Miko and The Shangri-Las.

Thursday 14th April
J Masics @ The Garage

Best known for his work in Dinosaur Jr, guitarist and singer J Mascis performs his solo work at The Garage.

Monday 25th April
The Descendents @ The Shepherd's Bush Empire

One of the bands who pioneered LA hardcore in the early 1980s (one of their first gigs was with Black Flag, unbelievably), The Descendents have always managed to combine a love of nerdy topics, potty humour and drinking way to much coffee, with some of the catchiest punk rock ever written.

Tuesday 26th April
Saves the Day @ The Electric Ballroom

Taking their cue from New Jersey hardcore legends Lifetime and emo-pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate, Saves the Day make shout-along anthems about throwing a strop and gouging your own eyes out. What's not to like?

Saturday 30 - Sunday 1st May
Camden Crawl @ Various Venues

Now in its 11th year, the Camden Crawl returns to take over NW1 for two days of live music, film screenings, quizzes, comedy and debauchery. No wonder it is fast becoming a highlight of the urban festival season.
