Naima Khan selects the five best film events taking place across London this month.

From 2nd April
Made in Britain @ BFI Southbank
The BFI is giving you a chance to see some of those recent films you've heard great things about but haven't got round to watching yet. Curated by Birds Eye View, the series focuses on the best works by established British female film directors of the same calibre as Lynne Ramsay, Andrea Arnold and Joanna Hogg (including some of their early stuff). Impressively, they've also made space for some great short films by the likes of debbie tucker green and Sally El-Hosani. Our top picks include Gillian Wearing's Self Made and Lucy Walker's Countdown to Zero.
12th & 19th April
Q&As @ Curzon Soho
Curzon cinemas have two intriguing Q&As coming up in April. The first a panel discussion folowing a screening of This Is Not A Film in Soho on 12th April and the second is a talk with director Kevin Mac Donald (Touching the Void, One Day in September, The Last King of Scotland) about his documentary Marley, a look at the life and influence of Bob Marley on 19th April.
Thursday 19th April
King of the Teds & Nixon’s The One @ Princess Anne Theatre
Not film but TV, this BAFTA double bill places a verbatim account of Nixon’s time in the Oval Office (with Harry Shearer as Nixon) next to Alison Steadman and Tom Jones as a working class couple whose lives are turned upside down, by the arrival of Brenda Blethyn no less. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the cast and crew.
From 20th April
London Palestinian Film Festival @ various venues
An impressive range of films from and about Palestine have been gathered together for this years' festival which takes place at venues across London including SOAS, UCL and the Barbican. They've got a few unticketed (donation at the door) screenings and some Q&As. Our pick of what's on offer includes Susan Sontag's 1974 documentary Promised Lands and the UK premiere of Mike Hoolboom's collage of found footage, Lacan Palestine.
From 26th April
Sundance London @ The O2
Sundance Film Festival Founded by Robert Redford, Sundance is Utah's notorious champion of independent cinema and this April it will see it set up camp for a long weekend at the O2 boasting a bunch of music events to boot. The handful of shorts look good and make time for Lauren Green Field's The Queen of Versailles.
