The anti Simon Cowell brigade returns

The same guys who protested against Simon Cowell’s pending world domination by getting 'Killing In The Name Of' to Christmas number one last year are back again with a vengeance.

To be released on December 13th, ‘Cage Against The Machine’ is a song that is made up of 4 minutes and 33 seconds of complete silence, based on the idea of the late avant garde composer John Cage’s concept, 4’3. How do you sell silence? Well, by inviting a bunch of musicians to sit silently around a recording studio mic of course. Maybe you’ll hear the occasional cough or sigh.

Among those who have signed up on a line up that is increasing by the day are Pete Doherty (too easy, no comment), Kooks, Crystal Fighters and Dan Le Sac to name but a few. Stalkers, a heads up: they will descend upon Dean Street Studios, Soho on December 6th at 3 to sit around the mic, and a documentary will be filmed on the day too. What is more, there will be ‘pocket call’ remixes available, courtesy of Alex Metric, Herve, Adam F, Mr Scruff and Hot Chip, and the whole caboodle will be released on Wall of Sound Records.

All the proceeds go to 5 different charities, The British Tinnitus Association, C.A.L.M., Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy, and Sound And Music . Click on the links to find out more.

We at Spoonfed are right behind them, and we encourage you to buy a copy too. Go on, wipe the smirk off his face.

Cage Against The Machine will be released on December 13th.
