Naima Khan selects the five best film events taking place across London this month.

5th December
Sound It Out @ Lexi Cinema
A screening of Jeanie Findlay's nostalgia-fuelled love song to record stores with live bands and a Q&A with the director herself makes for one hell of a film night. Facing the “vinyl curtain” as Philip French put it, Findlay documents the dying days of Teeside's last record shop in this snapshot of the north, its men and the soundtrack to their lives.
10th December
Ghostbusters-quote-along @ Prince Charles Cinema
Yes, highly irritating but if the name Egon Spengler means anything to you, Prince Charles Cinema has recognised your needs and will provide an outlet for all your pent up frustration. There 'll be other nutters there too, in fancy dress sipping Slimer cocktails and you know, it wouldn't be the same without them.
From 30th November
Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance! The MGM Musical @ BFI Southbank
Celebrating the musical madness of Hollywood’s golden era, when Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers ruled from on high and Betty Hutton showed us how to break down those inter-cultural barriers with tunes like “I'm an Indian too”, BFI South Bank are screening two months worth of brilliantly frivolous musicals including Ken Russell's The Boy Friend.
From 15th December
Terence Davies Double Bill @ Riverside Studios
Not to be confused with the much hyped Tree of Life director Terence Malick, this is a double bill of films by the quietly revered Terence Davies. His latest creation, an adaptation of Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea, starring Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston, will play after his superbly atmospheric film Distant Voices, Still Life with Pete Postlethwaite.
16th December
A Christmas Carol @ The Vanishing Point
Having transformed an old Victorian art studio into Scrooge and Marley's counting house, The Vanishing Point will screen Brian Desmond Hurst 1951 film, A Christmas Carol, while street urchins and chimney sweeps serve you mince pies and mulled wine.
