Emirates Stadium

One of the icons of North London, Emirates has been the home of Arsenal football club since it opened in July 2006. A mammoth complex, Emirates has a seating capacity of 60,355, making it the fifth largest stadium in the UK, and the third largest in London, right behind Wembley and Twickenham. The stadium, originally known as Ashburton Grove, is a true engineering marvel, and is well worth a visit regardless of whether you’re a Gunners fan or not.

Like the rest of the big four - Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool - tickets for Arsenal games can sometimes be ludicrously overpriced. If you’re willing to spend the cash however, you’re sure to be treated to a great atmosphere as the fans cycle through their songs and cheer the team on. To avoid stadium prices for beer and grub, check any of the local pubs or kebab shops before the game, and be sure to join the post-game celebrations if the Gunners pull off a win.

For those not willing to part with £50 or more, numerous tours are available directly on the Arsenal website. Walk though the player’s tunnel following in the footsteps of legends like Thierry Henri, and see the dressing room of current stars like Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie. This tour would be made all the more fun if you don a suit and do your best Arsene Wenger impersonation.

Emirates is located near to Holloway Road and Highbury & Islington stations. If you’ll be travelling in the area, make sure to check the match schedule – it can get quite busy. For pre- or post-game entertainment, why not check the following venues:
