If you've been bracing yourself for Shred Yr Face 3 to hit London, then you can relax a bit. Headlined by Philadelphian psych folkers Espers, the tour which takes over Rough Trade on and ULU on the 11th, should really be called Wipe Your Face with Cotton Wool it's so tame.
Not that we're saying Espers are bad – far from it. It's just that their weird blend of lo-fi pop, psychedelia and freak beat is highly reminiscent of bands your bearded middle-class uncle likes, (i.e. The Fairport Convention, Pentangle, and The Incredible String Band), is hardly the balls-to-the-wall thrash/hardcore the tour's name implies, is it?
Previous tours, that have featured Fucked Up, No Age, The Bronx and Los Campesinos! on their bills, all sold out in record time, and we'd recommend picking up some tickets right now.
