Flash Mob Theatre: An Interactive Adventure in the West End with Vauxhall Collective

Tonight, London's West End will be the setting for a remarkable, interactive piece of theatre put together by Duncam Speakman, the pioneer of the 'subtle mob'. Gathering in Covent Garden, players have an MP3 to listen to and play along with – there are many different roles and your headphones are your guide. There's still time to register at subtlemob.com. The event is free to take part in and there are no number limits - just download your role from the website and turn up.

Entitled As If It Were The Last Time, this interactive performance must be a nightmare to prepare, with many  intersecting roles and spontaneous scenes on London pavements acted out by untrained participants who are just there to have fun. It sounds complicated and fraught with problems but subtlemob's past events have been praised to the skies. According to members of the public who took part, the experience is both surreal and seamless - as easy as falling off a log, and just as funny.

The event kicks off in Covent Garden at 6pm but you need to register now. There are no spectators, only players, so you will need to turn up with an MP3 player and headphones in good time. At this stage the remaining roles are divided according to birthday and you can pre-download your part from the site. Sometimes you'll be an observer, but you will also be interacting with strangers. An adventure awaits!

Duncan Speakman is a member of the Vauxhall Collective, an initiative sponsored by the car company. To sign up to the event please visit subtlemob 09.
