The Spoonfed Comedy team selects the top five gigs in London this January.

Tuesday 11th-Saturday 22nd Jan
Jonny Sweet @ Soho Theatre
One of the best shows at the Fringe this year and almost certainly the best show about naval brigates, Edinburgh Best Newcomer 2009, Jonny Sweet brings his critically lauded show to the Soho Theatre this month for a two week run. Expect a rip-roaring lecture (complete with PowerPoint presentation and delivered in customary gauche fashion) about the recently decommissioned Royal Navy destroyer, the HMS Nottingham.
Monday 17th January
Around the Horn @ Comedy Store
Brilliantly satirical sketch group The Penny Dreadfuls, How Not To Live Your Life's Dan Clark, angry rock chick Loretta Maine and more feature in this quality charity line-up for annual Jack Whitehall's annual Save the Rhino gig.
Thursday 21st-Saturday 29th January
Jerry Sadowitz @ Leicester Square Theatre
Amusingly brutal stand-up and one of the most gifted close-up magicians in the country - Jerry Sadowitz brings his unique blend of bilious comedy and daft wizardry to the Leicester Square Theatre this month.
Thursday 27th-Saturday 29th January
Nick Helm @ Soho Theatre
The breakout hit of last year's Edinburgh Fringe, boisterous comedian Nick Helm brings his envigorating show to the Soho Theatre. Expect singing, dancing, poetry and shouting. In the best possible way.
Wednesday 26th January
Free Fringe Benefit @ Bloomsbury Theatre
Some of the circuit's best stand-ups, including BAFTA winner Stephen Merchant and The Bugle's Andy Zaltzman are performing a special benefit show this month to help raise money for Peter Buckley Hill's Free Fringe. Buckley Hill, (or PBH as he is better known in comedy circles) founded the Free Fringe in 1996, now an institution of the Edinburgh Festival, it offers comedy gigs at no charge to the public, to the performers or to the venue owners, so it truly is a free comedy experience.
