Jesus and Mary Chain Member to Play Free London Show on 7 September

by: Spoonfed Team

Former Jesus and Mary Chain drummer John Moore joins shoegaze legends Phil King and Loz Colbert to play a free gig tonight at The Social West End with their band The John Moore Rock and Roll Trio tonight. And you know how much we love free London gigs. The gig, also featuring the Loose Morelles, is far from what you'd normally expect, as they'll be playing classic rock'n'roll covers and rockabilly-style numbers rather than spaced-out dream-pop.

The band, which features Moore on vocals backed by ex Lush guitarist Phil King and former Ride drummer Loz Colbert are currently in the studio working on a full album of rock n roll covers. Tonight's gig will be a first chance for fans to see the group live - and experience the weirdness of a former shoegaze icon playing around with Fonzie classics first hand.

Support comes from Dirty Water's promoter PJ (who is also appearing at I Heart Spoonfed on Thursday!) and super star DJ Andrew Weatherall, best known for his work as the producer for Primal Scream' classic 1991 album 'Screamadelica.' The event kicks off at 7pm and entry is free, but the buzz around the web and chatter among Jesus and Mary Chain and John Moore fans suggests you might want to arrive a bit early.
