June: Best Film Events in London

Naima Khan selects the five best film events taking place across London this month.

From 1st June
Accidental Film Tent  @ Roundhouse
Dreamy, experimental and hugely varied, Accidental Film Festival is also FREE. We want to catch Helen Woolston's stop motion, Islamiya Scarr's art-house take on identity and Karol Silva's The Adventures of Chagal.

June 2nd
The King's Speech @ Queen's Park
You could call this a brilliant Jubilee cash in if it weren't FREE. Just turn up to Queen's Park at 9.30pm with a blanket for an outdoor screening of this regal themed gem.

16th June
The Omen @ St Mary Magdalene Church
Masters of turning films into events, Vanishing Point's take on Precinct 13 had audiences cowering the corners of a police station. Now they're bringing Omen to a crypt for an interactive, immersive screening.

22nd June
West Side Story @ Royal Albert Hall
“I like to be in America, OK by me in America, everything free in America...”Most people remember the drama, the romance and that unwittingly hilarious opening scene. But few people remember the hilarious one-liners in West Side Story, most of them borne out of petty gender battles and uneasy immigrant humour, all of it genius. It's playing at the Royal Albert Hall to a live score.

22nd June
Midsummer Night Screen @ Dalston Roof Park
Dalston Roof Park host a series of open air screenings including '90s classic Empire Records starring Liv Tyler, Robin Tunney and Anthony LaPaglia. Out door screenings tend to sell out fast so sign up to their newsletter and check their Facebook page to see if tickets become available on the door.
