June: London Clubbing

by: Spoonfed Team

The Spoonfed Team select the top five club nights taking place in London throughout June 2011.

Friday 3rd June
Unknown To The Unknown Presents Dopplereffekt

The Unknown To The Unknown are taking over XOYO tonight to showcase the very best of electro and techno crossover vibes. Having graced the likes of Geneva and Ibiza with their talent, they've chosen XOYO as their very first show within the city. First to show their worth are the highly respected Dopplereffekt.  Hailed as 'The American Kraftwerk' this is a live show not to miss.

Saturday 11th June
We Fear Silence Present RA X

An ambrosial prospect for high-falluting techno aesthetes and sweaty 'floor fiends alike, this is the first in a series of Resident Advisor curated nights entitled RX. The 'X' denominates a mystery guest. Very Scooby Doo it is too. Now for some superlatives... An exquisite line-up sees Hessle's Ben UFO, probably the UK's most exciting mixmaster, appear alongside techno kaiser Onur Ozer, and minimal's most numerical customer, 19.454.18.5.25.5.18. Perhaps most excitingly of all, Detroit's Kyle Hall is in town to show Cable why he's the hottest property on the global scene right now. Wear your most comfortable shoes.

Saturday 11th June
Southern Sounds Festival
This June, the Southern Sounds festival rocks up and pitches its tents on Clapham Common for the first time. As the name suggests, the festival focuses on celebrating the best acts from the southern hemisphere, bringing them together to play under our very own northern sky. Although only in its first year, Southern Sounds has managed to bag itself a hefty headliner, clearly wishing to stake its claim on the ever-increasing festival market. With 25 years under their belt, the mighty INXS take to the stage to headline this year's festival.

Friday 17th June
Amon Tobin
Blurring and redefining the lines between psychedilia and sci-fi, art and entertainment, sonic soundscapes and melody is Mr Amon Tobin. 'ISAM' is the first Amon Tobin album since 2007's 'Foley Room' and is already being called his most intense so far. The man's back catalogue is expansive and inspirational. Challenging, varied, refined, indefinable. Tonight he plays a rare live show at the Roundhouse. Mere words cannot describe how incredible this will be. NB. Tobin has also collaborated with Saatchi Collection artist Tessa Farmer on an art installation named ISAM: Control Over Nature. It will be open between Thursday 26th May and 6th June at The Crypt Gallery below St Pancras Church in Euston.

Friday 24th June
Viva Music Presents Harlem Nights
Steve Lawler brings his re-launched Harlem Nights back to Crucifix tonight. Last time, he played for 6 hours and the crowd refused to let him leave. He brings Viva Music's Bearweasel with their dubby brand of house, plus a live show from the unstoppable Dan Berkson and James What in room two. Their live show delivers captivating deep house and secretsundaze Giles Smith joins them - his house and techno credentials are rock solid. Get. In.
