The Spoonfed Arts Team pick out the biggest exhibitions opening in London this June.

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

From 7th June
Royal Academy Summer Exhibition @ Royal Academy
The largest open contemporary art exhibition in the world, the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition is one of the major dates in the art calendar. Over 11,000 works are submitted but only about 1,200 of these make it through the rigorous selection process. The cream of contemporary talent is on display and all media are well represented. Pretty much unmissable.

From 9th June
Pablo Bronstein – Sketches for Regency Living @ ICA
For the first time ever an artist has been allowed to take over the entire ICA building - Pablo Bronstein is transforming the John Nash-designed Carlton House with a series of Regency-inspired architectural interventions, choreographed art and ballet performances. Bronstein is the kind of artist who works across a wide range of media, with pretty bonkers results, but it's always rooted in research and nuanced historical detail.

From 9th June
Olympia International Art and Antiques Fair @ Olympia Grand Hall
This June at Olympia Grand Hall there's a massive art and antiques fair, featuring amazing pieces from over 250 of the world's leading galleries. Given the objects on show have all been selected by experts, the chances of picking up a Fabergé egg for two quid are slim, but at least there's plenty of amazing art and artefacts to look at.

From 16th June
BP Portrait Award @ National Portrait Gallery
With a first prize of £25,000, the BP Portrait Award is definitely worth entering. Unfortunately entry for the 2011 competition is now closed, but an exhibition of the best works is on display at the National Portrait Gallery from June to September. The finalists this year are: Wim Heldens, Sertan Saltan, Ian Cumberland and Louis Smith.

From 29th June
Twombly and Poussin @ Dulwich Picture Gallery
To celebrate their bicentenary, the Dulwich Picture Gallery are putting on one of the most crazily brilliant exhibitions of the year. Seventeenth century French classical painter Nicolas Poussin side by side with twentieth century scribbler Cy Twombly? Yes, it's happening. With around thirty paintings and drawings, the aim is to emphasise the similarities between these two painters. It's ambitious and, we reckon, rather brilliant.
