June: London Theatre

by: Spoonfed Team

The Spoonfed Theatre Team pick out the biggest plays opening in London this June.

From 2nd June
Tactical Questioning @ Tricycle Theatre
Scenes from the Baha Mousa Inquiry edited by Richard Norton-Taylor explore what happened to suspected Iraqi insurgents at the hands of the British Army.  Few theatres do the political stuff well, the Tricycle surpasses most of them by miles. Make time for this show

From 8th June

Derren Brown's Svengali @ Shaftesbury Theatre
He's predicted lottery numbers, exposed faith-healers and played Russian Roulette live on TV, Derren Brown should be applauded for the legal risks alone. This June he brings his new live show to the West End for more mind-boggling psychological illusion and this one relies heavily on audience participation.

From 16th June

Rosencrantz and Gulidenstern are Dead @ Theatre Royal Haymarket
Two fantastic actors lead the cast in this production of Stoppard's Shakespeare parody. Samuel Barnett and Jamie Parker who you'll recognise from The History Boys take the title roles under Trevor Nunn's direction. We are so excited to see Parker and Barnett on stage together again!

From 22nd June

The Secret Consul @ A Secret Location
Guerrilla opera somewhere near Limehouse. Opera is melodramatic, loud and generally pretty stunning and this city needs more secret opera. Based on The Consul by Gian Carlo Menotti it follows the dark events engulf Magda who desperately needs to leave her country to be reunited with her political dissident husband. But Magda has to wait for a visa and the consul is taking his time.

From 23rd June

Duckie's Lullaby @ The Barbican
Falling asleep at the theatre is usually a no no. But  in their new show, Duckie want to lull you to sleep and they've some great artists on board to help you. Matthew Robins and Tim Spooner provide the visuals and the storytelling while the Plewis sisters H and Harriet provide the musics. Don your pyjamas and snuggle up.
