Leona Lewis to play one-off gig at Hackney Empire

Like that niggly flu bug that plagues us every winter, X Factor mania has seized Britain again. So far the talent show has thrown up a pair of cocky identical twins, a bisexual schoolteacher and a band of strippers. Classy. No surprise, then, that original X Factor winner turned chart-topping star Leona Lewis has leapt into the fray with impeccable timing, announcing her first ever full-length live show at the Hackney Empire on November 2.

The gig is a taster of Lewis' upcoming new album Echo to be released on November 16. It will also be a homecoming of sorts for the big-voiced singer who was born and bred in Hackney. If you can't wait till then, part of her new single 'Happy' can already be heard on her official website.

All the money in the world won't snare you tickets though. The event is strictly fans-only, with 200 tickets to be given away at this iTunes Facebook page. The rest of the 1,250-strong audience will comprise fans from other parts of the world.  The prize draw will close at midnight on 27 October 2009.
