Zander

London is one of the world's most vibrant cities and our night-life easily rivals that of Paris, New York or Madrid. Whether you want a glamorous cocktails, lively DJs or rustic wine bar, London has plenty to offer.

Spoonfed's pick of the Top 10 best bars in London

Anam

3 Chapel Market N1 9EZ

Best for: sipping a unique range of cocktails in this plush and funky venue. Located near the trendy Chapel Market, Anam serves up premium cocktails with specially designed recipes that somehow blend the flavours of bourbon, port and sake into a delectable combination.

Detroit

35 Earlham Street WC2H 9LD

Best for: a relaxed and intimate evening with a quirky mish-mashed décor and seating areas divided into little capsules. This busy venue is always packed with young starlets, but the subterranean bar retains its mellow atmosphere with relaxing chill out music.

Albannach

66 Trafalgar Square WC2N 5DS

Best for: a snifter of whiskey in a Scottish themed bar that is devoid of cliché, but does feature the odd kilt. London’s many Irish pubs don't even come close to matching the stylish elegance of this bar\/restaurant which features 40 cocktails and a whiskey sommelier to guide you through a choice of over 200 Scotch whiskies.

Lost Society

697 Wandsworth Road SW8 3JF

Best for: getting lost in a myriad of decadent cocktails and wiling away the small hours in their Secret Garden. This nifty little bar was used as a barn in the 16th century but now packs in the big whigs of Clapham high society with late night DJs on weekends.

Montgomery Place

31 Kensington Park Road W11 2EU

Best for: creating a stylish Rat Pack atmosphere. This bar stays innovative with extravagant cocktails, a wine list featuring bottles from Mexico, Morocco or Lebanon and a modern twist on traditional tapas.

Zander

45 Buckingham Gate SW1E 6BS

Best for: people watching at a spot along Europe’s longest bar. Zander also specialises in modern British cuisine, which helps it stand out among the rest of Victoria’s stylish venues.

Bar Red

5 Kingly Street W1B 5PF

Best for: creating an intimate atmosphere amid the lush décor and private booths. For livelier customers, there's a low-lit bar downstairs with live DJs most nights.

Village East

171-173 Bermondsey Street SE1 3UW

Best for: generating a New York vibe in an East London setting. This former Victorian warehouse’s minimal décor and thoughtful wine list is bang on the money in recreating a downtown Manhattan atmosphere.

Sketch

9 Conduit Street W1S 2XG

Best for: a sleek and sophisticated night out; each area of this vast bar has its own unique style, which doesn't detract from the elegant and highly intoxicating cocktails. It’s a pricy venue to be sure, but those egg shaped toilets are certainly worth a look.

Gordon’s Wine Bar

47 Villiers Street WC2N 6NE

Best for: lovers of fine wine and avid sherry quaffers who don’t want to pay a fortune. Gordon’s, the oldest wine bar in London, is buried beneath the streets of Charing Cross, down a rickety staircase and is littered with dusty wine bottles and candle-lit tables. During the summer months there's a popular outside seating area, but sharing a tasty platter of cheese and bottle of wine from their extensive collection in the cosy cellar bar is by far the best way to experience Gordon’s.
