London's Burnsing

The International Glasgow Comedy Festival is holding a launch event in London this month - on Burns Night. Loads of quality acts appearing at the festival will be showcasing parts of their set at the Leicester Square Theatre on January 25th.

Top class stand ups like Stewart Lee, Robin Ince and Tony Law will all be taking part, as will legendary comic poet John Hegley and Scottish comedian and presenter Fred MacAulay who is hosting the gig. More names are yet to be announced.

Now in its eighth year, the Magners-sponsored festival is the largest comedy festival in Europe. From 11-28 March, over 300 shows will run in 51 venues across Glasgow city centre.

Festival Director, Tommy Sheppard, said: "The Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival has a great reputation locally and amongst its peers within the industry, so we’re now reaching out to our friends around the UK. With the programme launch in London in January, we’re hoping to attract more visitors to Glasgow to join in the fun in March and experience what our great city has to offer. We know a number of comedy fans already come from London for our festival but this year we’re looking forward to welcoming many more."
