by: Spoonfed Team

Spoonfed Theatre Team select the top 5 plays opening in May 2011.

From 3rd May

I am the Wind @ The Young Vic
Yes, it's one of those titles but I am the Wind is an intense play about human connection. Two friends row out to sea and  find themselves on a journey they're not quite prepared for.

From 9th May
Convictions @ Soho Theatre
Synergy Theatre presents two productions by people who have previously or are currently serving time. Every Coin by Carlon Campbell Robinson looks at gangs and religion within prison and The Archbishop and the Antichrist reimagines events in South Africa in the late '90s.

From 10th May
The Cherry Orchard @ National Theatre
Zoe Wannamaker plays a mother slowly learning about the changes in her family and community that have developed while she's been away spending money abroad. When she returns, the events of 1917 are looming and finds decisions increasingly difficult to make.

From 16th May
Much Ado About Nothing @ Wyndhams Theatre
Former artistic director of Bush Theatre Josie Rourke directs David Tenant and Catherine Tate in this West End production of Shakespeare's classic romantic comedy. There's no one better at verbal volleyball than Catherine Tate so expect something hilarious.

From 18th May
Total Football by Ridiculusmus @ The Barbican
Ridiculusmus are funny in name and funny by nature. In Total Football, this comedy theatre duo bring us changing room banter and big questions on life, immortality and why England never bloody win.
