Michael Jackson Dead at 50 - London Mass Moonwalk Tribute Planned

26 June, 2009
by: Spoonfed Team

Michael Jackson has passed away in his LA home at the age of 50, just two weeks before he was due to begin his come-back tour with a slew of dates at the O2 Arena. Although his life became a sad, almost never-ending celebrity freak show, we would like to remember him as the guy who gave us 'Thriller', 'Man in the Mirror', 'Beat It' And 'Billie Jean' and whose dance moves made school discos fun. We'll miss him.

As soon as we find out any information on ticketing for the O2 concerts, we'll keep you up-dated but in the meantime other Londoners are finding a way to perform a tribute to the King of Pop and you can join in the event.

On 26 June, 2009 at 6pm, Jackson fans are gathering at Liverpool Street Station for a moonwalk followed by a massive after party to celebrate the star’s life. RSVP to the Mass Moonwalk event on Facebook and arrive at 6pm sharp for the moonwalk event. The afterparty will be at Lucky Voice on Upper Street in Islington

Latest News:

Please note that this event will not take place inside the underground station, nor are cameras allowed in the Liverpool Street Station.  Please meet for the event outside the station. The meeting place has been confimred as outside the station across from the McDonalds, not the Bishopsgate station exit.

Although a soundsystem will be present, attendees are encouraged to bring an iPod with their favourite Michael Jackson songs as well. Music will be playing from the 6pm start time but the group, coordinated moonwalk will take place at 6:15pm.

The afterparty will be at Lucky Voice, a private karaoke bar, on Upper Street in Islington.  Organisers hint that "Anyone wearing MJ memorabilia will be rewarded at the afterparty."

Lucky Voice is located at 173-174 Upper Street, London, N1 1RG.
