Shudder! In keeping with the spirit of Halloween, 'This is It' – Michael Jackson's rather ironically titled single from the afterlife - has been released online today at michaeljackson.com. Ah, we're only jesting. The still-dead King of Pop initially recorded the track for his chart-busting 'Dangerous' album in 1991 but binned it because it wasn't good enough.  His music executives clearly have other ideas, the sound of posthumous profit proving to be music to their ears.

The song, bearing the same name as MJ's planned 50-show in London, is a return to the late superstar's Motown roots. It's actually pretty listenable. A slow finger-snapping beat ticks in the background as he croons sentimentally: 'I never heard a single word about you/Falling in love wasn't my plan.' Overzealous radio airplay is guaranteed.

'This Is It' is the only original track on a double CD album due to be released worldwide on October 27.  The vinyl release will be on November 10.  If that's not enough Jacko nostalgia for you, the film This is It – which charts the rise and fall of the man – also opens on October 28. Wow, it's like he never left.
