The Spoonfed Arts Team pick out the biggest exhibitions opening in London this November.

From 11th November
High Society @ Wellcome Collection
High Society examines the uses of mind-altering substances throughout history - from ancient Egyptian poppy tinctures, via the Romantics and their opium issues, the Victorians' love of cocaine eye drops, right up to those zany hippies and their psychedelic dalliances. As is the way with exhibitions at Wellcome, expect a fusion of art and history, science and wit, with a range of fascinating objects sensitively but strongly curated.
From 12th November
Evolving English @ British Library
The British Library are making history with this exhibition; it's the first ever to explore the English language. With manuscripts, texts, projections, videos and audio recordings, they're looking at the history of the language as well as the different dialects and accents that go along with it. We've been looking forward to this for months.
From 12th November
RCA Secret @ RCA
Whoever came up with this idea really does deserve some praise. Even though the RCA Secret exhibition and sale has now been going 16 years, it still strikes us a a brilliant idea. A load of contemporary artists produce postcard-sized works of art and you can go along and buy one for only £40. The brilliance is that you don't know who's done which work, so you could be picking up a piece by a virtual nobody or, if your lucky, a major name in the contemporary art world
From 12th November
400 Women @ Shoreditch Town Hall
An exhibition of work by 200 contemporary artists in Shoreditch Town Hall in response to the murder and rape of 400 women in the US border town of Ciudad Juarez and the region of Chihuahua in Mexico. Artists involved include include Tracey Emin, Paula Rego and Gordon Cheung.
From 26th November
Bloomberg New Contemporaries @ ICA
The annual Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition is a showcase for the works of the finest final year graduates and postgraduates from across the country. The standard of work does vary, but New Contemporaries has an excellent track record of discovering the next generation of talent: previous participants include Damien Hirst, Abigail Lane and Glenn Brown.
