Controversial singer to play mini-residency at favourite Whitechapel stamping ground

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty is set to play a brief run of shows at the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel next week on the 14, 15 and 17 January.

The mini-residency comes at the same venue were Doherty has previously reunited with former Libertines band mate Carl Barat, meaning fans are sure to hope for a similar reconciliation, despite the shows being billed as solo performances.

Doherty had a turbulent 2009, releasing his first solo record, 'Grace/Wastelands', to critical acclaim, but also having several brushes with the law, including being arrested just before Christmas for drug possession.

The tabloid favourite will be hoping to kick start the new year on a happier note with his first gigs of 2010. Each night will feature varying support, including Crowns and Melody Nelson.

Pete Doherty plays the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel on January 14, 15 and 17.
Tickets are available from http://www.rhythmfactory.co.uk/.
