Bristol trio Portishead are back in the studio working on their fourth album producer Geoff Barrow has confirmed.
The album could be ready in a year - which would be a rapid return for the trip hop pioneers who left an 11 year gap between 'Portishead' and 2008 album 'Third'.
For the first time ever the group are without a record deal, which, Barrow told BBC 6 Music, 'is a really lovely place to be. We're meeting labels and just talking about the future and where the business is going'.
The band are showing no signs of calling it a day either Barrow reassures fans. 'Beth (Gibbons) said 'Are we going to do this forever?' and I said 'Well yeah, maybe'.
