33% London returns for its third and most varied run yet, Naima Khan takes a look at what's on offer.

The folk behind 33% London call themselves 'young practitioners' of art; and they've more than earned this title. As well as performing in many of their own productions, they're also the driving force behind the scenes: the organisers, photographers, writers and directors.
33% London promises to be a stunning showcase of the new talent emerging from the city's most driven and artistic young people aged 16-25. This is its third year of film, dance, theatre, masterclasses and debates, and we couldn't be more excited!
The idea behind the festival is to create a space for young artists, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, to work, experiment, and follow through on some seemingly impossible ideas. It's also a chance for audiences to see the impressive results, and the festival aims to draw in unlikely crowds and engage with hard-to-reach communities through work with their artists.
The programme boasts an impress variety of events including the very exciting Around The House – a series of site-specific short plays that utilise the most obscure nooks and crannies of Oval House Theatre. This year’s festival also branches out into film with Dark Stranger, a short film based on last year’s performance of The Unfortunate Love of the British Empire. It tells the story of Jelani the warrior poet and his many frustrating lose-lose situations and is followed by a Q&A with the director. The festival is dedicated to this artistic engagement and has set up a series of First Bites, where audiences are encouraged to give feedback to young theatre makers, actively contributing to the creative process.
We predict one of the most well received productions of this year’s 33% will be Milky Nights by Micheal McLean. It covers the stories of three working class girls whose dreams and ambitions have been buried under their fears a pile of sedatives.
An exciting start to the new year that promises to broaden horizons.
