Billed as ‘a hymn to memory, sound and character’, this production promises to be stunning exploration of the stage itself.

Sean Holmes and Filter Theatre have artfully re-imagined Chekhov’s classic Three Sisters, about one family and their odd outlook on their bleak rural existence.
The boys at Filter have found the Lyric is the place to develop their radical, physical storytelling. And they couldn’t have picked a better story to tell. Longing to return to Moscow, the Prozorov sisters grow increasingly frustrated with the limitations of their small-town. The combination of their peculiar optimism, their sense of propriety and their flawed relationships pushes their dreams further out of reach.
Expect Filter and Holmes to get at the essence of the play, place Chekhov’s writing on a pedestal and turn the entire theatre into an instrument. We’ve no doubt that the creative team behind this production will manage to make it rich and eclectic but also a bare, human take on the intangible happiness born out of indefinable, ever-changing desires.
